Woori Financial Group had a welcoming ceremony for the global voluntary group at the head office on April 23, and announced to carry out global voluntary works in Paliparan located neighboring Manila from April 23 to April 28.
To this end, the Group formed the 3rd voluntary group consisting of 30 members from all affiliated companies and they plan to carry out voluntary works such as Construction of study room, establishment of small-sized playground and flower garden, free lunch, cultural activities together with Korea Food for the Hungry International, Korea’s first international aid agency.
Paliparan is located in an area 30km from Manila where about 90 thousand needy people are living. 55% of them are out of work or engaging in part time jobs.
They have strong desire for education, while poor educational infra has been not able to satisfy them. The WFG’s voluntary group will construct study rooms for more than 450 local children’s after-school education, which will provide them with more educational opportunities.
A member of the voluntary group said, “As a global financial player spanning 20 countries, we are striving to fulfill our corporate social responsibility. Our globally social contribution activities will be continued systematically and sustainably, and I will proactively take part in this kind of voluntary works.”
Woori Financial Group had built a dormitory building for the job training center and a library in Bingpuk neighboring Hanoi, Vietnam, in 2010. In the next year, the Group planted trees and built a library in Biyang Hangai neighboring Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia. These contribution activities have been conducted through the dispatch of global voluntary group every year.
